IRVINE, Calif., October 1, 2014 /ASA/ -- On September 27th, the Azerbaijani Society of America (ASA) joined the Irvine Global Village Festival – one of the largest multicultural events in California - to represent Azerbaijani culture. ASA West, previously known as AAC, has participated in this festival since 2007.
Attended by over 25,000 visitors, the event featured exhibitors from over 50 different cultural groups based in Orange County. The visitors to the ASA booth were guided through the cultural displays, national costumes, souvenirs, and printed material on the history and geography of Azerbaijan, learning more about the country’s rich heritage. They also had a unique opportunity to taste the finest Azerbaijani pomegranate juice now available on Southern California market. "Visitors to our booth were impressed with the diversity of our heritage, history, cuisine, traditional dresses. We hope to participate in other similar events introducing our culture to wider public throughout the country", said the ASA-West representative, Sarvat Maharramli.
ASA extends its gratitude to the City of Irvine, which has organized this annual celebration of diversity for the past 13 years. We also thank the Azerbaijani community in Southern California and the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles for their support with the ASA booth at the Irvine Global Village Festival.
