ASA 2015 Fall Scholarship Winners

Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA) is pleased to announce the winners of its 2015 Fall Semester Scholarship Program. They are Azer Rustamov of the University of Missouri and Abulfaz Hajizade of the Oklahoma State University-Institute of Technology. Both students demonstrated not only a high level of ambition for academic success, but also desire to increase awareness of Azerbaijan in the U.S.

ASA 2015 Fall Scholarship Award

Azerbaijan Society of America announces its 2015 Fall Scholarship Award to help qualified students with their educational needs. The $1000 award is given to the deserving winner of the ASA essay contest based on the evaluation by the ASA Scholarship Program Committee.

Awarded for the 7th consecutive year, ASA scholarship recognizes the students who contribute to the promotion of Azerbaijan, its cultural and historical heritage, in the U.S.

ASA West celebrates Nowruz in California

IRVINE, Calif., March 24, 2015 /ASA/ -- On March 21st, Azerbaijani Society of America (ASA) Western Region hosted the first major Azerbaijani celebration of Nowruz - Vernal Equinox - at the Orange County Hilton in Costa Mesa, CA. Among the nearly 250 guests at the event were also the House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair, California Congressman Ed Royce (R-CA), Mayors of Irvine and Fountain Valley.

N.Y. Senator recognizes Black January

NEW YORK, Jan 16, 2014 /AAC-ASA/ - As a result the annual Pax Turcica awareness campaign, the New York State Senator, Terry Gipson (D-41st District), issued a proclamation recognizing the 24th anniversary of Black January in Azerbaijan. The proclamation mentions the fact that on the night of January 19-20, 1990, 26,000 Soviet special troops with support of tanks, helicopters and navy stormed Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, indiscriminately firing at unarmed civilians.

NEW YORK, Sep.11, 2014 /AAC-ASA/ -- Thirteen years ago, on this day, the United States and the world had experienced a horrific act of terror against our way of life. The coordinated suicide attacks by Al Qaeda on the World Trade Center towers in New York and the Pentagon building in Washington, D.C. resulted in a total of 2,977 innocent deaths. Thousands of Americans and other nationals lost their loved ones, a memory that can never be erased from our minds.

NEW YORK, July 4, 2013 /AAC-ASA/ - Today, all Azeri-Americans join in celebration of the U.S. Independence Day, July 4th. 237 years ago on this day, the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the independence of American colonies from Great Britain.
